Clerkenwell Design Week is a three day festival in London’s creative heart. Big design names and thought leaders host an exciting programme of workshops, presentations, exhibitions and debates. The festival will be filled with music, installations, parties and entertainment, truly celebrating design within this cultural hub. In 2010 London’s design community flocked to Clerkenwell over the three days, with 18000 registered and over 150 events, 2011 promises to be even bigger and better!

We’re having fun at the Silverline showroom throughout Clerkenwell Design Week! Some of the best toys are design classics and we’ll have plenty in our showroom for you to play with. And they’re great to look at, touch and admire as objects of stunning design.

Play and creativity go hand in hand and many of today’s top designers have been influenced by the toys they played with as children. Remember etch-a-sketch? And Lego – some say the greatest toy of all time. Some of the best toys were invented by designers in other fields. The Rubik's Cube was invented by Erno Rubik, an interior design lecturer in Budapest and in 1981 it was even an exhibit at the New York Museum of Modern Art. Did you know the Slinky was invented in 1943 by naval engineer Richard James? While experimenting with tension springs for use on board ships one of the metal coils fell to the floor and he was fascinated by its walking movement. We’ll have some fun games and activities, swingball and scalextrix to name a few. Also remember those jars of sweets with 1p fruit salads, sherbert fountains, drumstick lollys and bubbly gum? You can get your hands on these long forgotten sweets and many more at the Silverline showroom. Please come play and explore your inner child with our retro toys and games from bygone eras!

Joining in with the fun will be Silverline’s brand new animated friend. We’ll be showing his new movie all about his life story and how he was rescued from a car factory. Silverline manufactures office furniture using sustainably sourced steel. SILVERLINE ANNOUNCES BOOM SALES FROM NEW LONDON SHOWROOM

In the first two months of 2011, Silverline’s new London showroom has generated nearly £500,000 of sales.

Silverline has also secured a £2 million finance deal from GE Capital to support its ambitious expansion and restructuring plans.

Adrian Cowley, CEO of Silverline said: “We are delighted to be working with GE Capital who see the benefits of supporting us through a challenging period. These early results from our new showroom show the enduring appeal and strength of the Silverline brand.”

The state-of-the art showroom in the heart of Clerkenwell in London covers 3,000 sq feet over two floors and is designed to provide a first class environment for clients to view all the latest ranges. Adrian Cowley said: “The Clerkenwell showroom is attracting significant levels of new business from the local design community. These new clients – architects and commercial interior designers – really appreciate the quality of Silverline’s designs and craftsmanship.”
