Silverline’s Go-Green storage made with reloved steel helps you to significantly reduce your carbon footprint.

We use steel from the automotive industry – from door, window, sunroof and body panels. It’s green because it’s not recycled in a blast furnace, it’s only re-engineered to shape. This saves 7.5 tonnes of CO2 for every tonne of reloved steel (compared to using conventional sheet steel).

A minimum of 15% reloved steel is now guaranteed in the 'Go Green' portfolio of s:line and Freedom storage solutions.

Call us on 01638 582700 and our dedicated Green team can verify your green credentials by providing the exact CO2 figures saved for your projects.

Environmental Sustainability

In recent years, the growing importance of environmental issues has dovetailed with Silverlines 'value-engineering' approach to product design. Client demand has led to the development of new 'go green' product offering, which helps clients and end users to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. The company's development designers and engineers use 'Go-Green' thinking and principles as standard.

In response to this new economic environment we have developed our storage solution ranges to use Abbeysteel™ Sustainably Sourced Steel. Abbeysteel™ is a green branded raw material that is exclusive to Silverline and it can show a significantly reduced carbon footprint of the products that contain it.

Silverline Partners with Abbeysteel™

Silverline has a strategic partnership with Abbeysteel™ the world’s first green brand of sustainably sourced steel.

Abbeysteel™ takes un-used product from the automotive industry that would be otherwise destined for the traditional recycling route and  is re-engineered into workable steel blanks, which is used in Silverline's 'go green' portfolio.

The most common material received is in the form of door, window, sunroof, bonnet and body panels. This material is re-processed into usable blanks to our specification and then transported to us to be made into some of the parts of your products.

What are the savings?

This saves a significant amount of CO2 saving, due to that fact that this re-used product is not being recycled and consuming energy within the smelting process. Using one tonne of Abbeysteel™ saves up to 7.5 tonnes of CO2 which is significantly less harmful to the environment and is an addition to the standard 10-25% recycled element that Silverline achieve in the standard supply of products from core material. A minimum of 15% re-used material is now guaranteed within the s:line and Freedom storage solution portfolio.

Going those extra miles...

In automotive production material grade, quality and consistency are paramount as vehicles have to confirm to a number of legal, testing and automotive safety laws. This means that the steel grade will be even higher in your greener filing cabinets. Silverline's 'go green' portfolio of storage solutions are distinguished for their undefeatable anti-tilt mechanism to enhance safety within the office. Now with enhanced green credentials the range is a solution for both the safety and ecologically conscious.

Not going those extra miles...

Made in our factory in Suffolk, our filing cabinets travel minimum miles from manufacture to delivery, helping reduce Silverline's carbon footprint even more.

The millage your steel within your filing cabinet will travel is a maximum of 500 miles to be delivered within the UK.

The Recycled Content Claim???

A confusing issue is between the terms 'reused' and 'recycled' .

All manufactured steel has some level of recycled content based upon the type of steel and the application that it is destined for. With this being true it is difficult to quantify as data has shown this to be from between 10% to 25%.

However this is much to do with the type of steel that is being manufactured. Even though products that claim to have recycled steel content are environmentally friendly they are not as green as Abbeysteel™.

Accreditation

All data concerning carbon foot printing of Abbeysteel™ has been produced and verified by third parties.

CO2 comparative data has been produced from information available from DEFRA (2008) and Transport for London (2008)
